Major community infrastructure is built through the strength of many specialized teams. The new Belmont Fieldhouse and Library is a strong example of that collaboration in action.
As part of Cenmax Group, Solico Metal is contributing its structural steel fabrication expertise to this significant civic project in southwest Calgary. Once complete, the facility will support recreation, learning, gathering, and connection for one of the city’s growing communities.
The Belmont Fieldhouse and Library is a major development that brings together indoor recreation and public library space in one shared community destination. The project includes a multi-sport fieldhouse, public library, field viewing areas, dressing rooms, washrooms, meeting rooms, open seating, children’s library space, and outdoor learning areas.
For Solico Metal, the project represents the scale, precision, and coordination required to support complex civic construction. The facility includes approximately 1.5 million pounds of steel, with Solico supporting structural steel fabrication, key connection details, and installation coordination alongside CANA Group of Companies and Canam Group.
One of the standout structural elements of the project is a 254-foot unsupported span, achieved without intermediate supports. Features of this scale require careful planning, technical execution, and close coordination between project partners to ensure the structure is fabricated and delivered to meet the demands of the design.
Solico’s work is currently underway and expected to continue through July. As the project progresses, the team is helping bring to life a facility that will serve residents, families, athletes, students, and community members for years to come.
For Cenmax Group, projects like Belmont Fieldhouse and Library reflect the broader value of specialized industrial capability. They show how craftsmanship, collaboration, and reliable project execution contribute to the spaces that help communities grow.
We are proud to see Solico Metal play a role in this important Calgary project and to support the skilled teams behind the work.
